Schuler Books & Music in Grand Rapids, MI
What a cool bookstore. Watch out Borders and Barnes & Noble this place has not only a café with amazing food and smoothies, but also a listening room with a stage. It was the last night of the tour for me. My parents drove up from West Lafayette, IN with my husband. It was a wonderful reunion to see him and have them all there for the last show. Also, another high school friend, came to see my play too! Thanks John! The people were great and I sang my heart out. It was a reunion with my family but a farewell to Jen and Rob, and little Wilson.

From cleaning up spit-up, to changing diapers, to singing, listening to great music, to selling merchandise, and loading equipment in and out in the snow, to sleeping in hotels and random homes, to meeting new faces and being reunited with old ones, it was more than worth it. It was a wonderful Christmas adventure and tour. It was a blessing and a dream all rolled into one.

Traverse City to Frankfort, MI
We spent the day at a great breakfast café called Harbor Café good people and great food. Traverse City is a wonderful city with water surrounding it along with cute and unique gift shops. We had a little time to spare to attempt some Christmas shopping and I apparently tried to steal a hat at Old Navy. I walked out of Old Navy and lying on top of my purse was a little girls pink winter cap. Where did that come from? No worries, I returned it as soon as I noticed, but we got a good laugh out of it. Now I am hanging out in Beaner’s Coffee Shop enjoying some hot tea and thinking about my set for the show tonight in Frankfort. I have been away from my husband for a total off six days tomorrow and it has been hard, but I am looking forward to the reunion at Schuler’s Books & Music in Grand Rapids. I guess the only good thing about being away from the person you love is the reunion, but it just plain stinks.

The snow is still falling outside and it is neat to see all the homes decorated along the way with Christmas lights dressed in snowy white. I love Christmas time with family and friends and feeling the holiday Spirit and loving Jesus! Rhonda’s Wharfside Restaurant was awesome. We were served a delicious meal and stayed at the chef’s parent’s house. Ron and Ruth made us feel at home. The restaurant was overlooking Lake Michigan and was filled with friendly faces and listening ears. It was a fantastic night and Rhonda even treated us to some Cherry Bread Pudding, yummy! Her parents were kind and fixed us a wonderful breakfast in the morning with homemade applesauce. Life on the road is not so bad. :)

Traverse City, MI
Today is Wilson 3 month b-day and he had a good dose of formula for his b-day celebration and got to listen to the sweet sounds of his parents serenading him with their good tunes. We drove through many a snow storms to get to the show tonight which always is interesting, but we made it safe and sound thanks to Rob’s good driving skills. We had a great crowd and a cool vibe at Traverse City Brewing Company. The whole stage was set with Christmas trees and lights. Wilson has been an angel every night and he even made a little friend at the show who was about a week older than him. They were smiling at each other and talking baby talk. We all sang the night away and the snow was piled high outside when we loaded the equipment up to call it a night.

Goshen, IN
The Electric Brew is an awesome coffee shop and it was a fun night of coincidences. The show was great and the people were friendly and supportive. I met a girl who my mom taught in college, talk about a small world. Wilson’s diaper leaked on my pants, but at least he did not pee on me again. The owners were amazing people who made us popcorn and shared with us stories. We stayed at their place and I had a companion the whole night, Mylo the cat. Mylo helped reminded me of my cat(Monkey) at home and slept curled next to my tummy for most of the night. They served an amazing breakfast in the morning at the coffee shop, and I experienced blueberry baked oatmeal, which was sensational! One of my favorite places so far!

Louisville, KY
The highlight of the night was seeing my good friend from college Katie Flynn. Other than that the night was lacking a few people. We ended early and decided to drive to Indiana that night. I was the official bus driver that night and drove through the fog and snow to get to my parents house in West Lafayette, IN. We arrived at 2:00 am to a snow covered town and slept safe and sound.

Murphy, NC
We started the second leg of the tour tonight at the Daily Grind in Murphy, NC. It is a small and cute town and very welcoming. The Daily Grind is a coffee shop/winery. The place was full of people willing to listen, and I opened with Florida Winter Day, Show Me My Purpose, Middle Ground, Listen, Push Me Away, and Sweet Sarah. After the performance, I had to get to my nanny duties and Wilson had a wet shirt and a dirty diaper. So while Jen and Rob were up for their first set I took Wilson to the restroom.

I am officially a nanny. Wilson peed on me while I was changing his diaper and after he was all cleaned up he spit up all over his clean shirt. He is 11 weeks old a cutie. I have enjoyed every moment of playing, watching Wilson, selling Martha’s Trouble merchandise, traveling, and listening to them play. The owners were kind enough to let us stay in their beautiful, quaint, and comfortable home in the mountains. Thanks Dave, Amy, and Chad and all the friendly folks in Murphy, NC!

Boston Diaries
What an amazing race I should say. We started almost missing our flight to Boston due to the lady arguing with Rob how we had too many carry-ons. So we hear “this is the final boarding call for flight blah, blah, blah,” but we made it to a rainy Boston and got lost a couple times driving to the gigs. It is crazy driving there. We made it to Hyannis near Cape Cod and Jen and Rob played at Grille 16, which was a cool little restaurant. I was watching Wilson and selling Martha’s Trouble merchandise like crazy. Judd and Maggie a brother sister duo played with them at all the shows and they were great.

The next day we took a ferry to Martha’s Vineyard where we spent all day at the radio station. Wilson and I had some major bonding time, and he even got some air time on the radio making his cute noises. They played that night in Martha’s Vineyard and it was a quieter evening but intimate and peaceful. We caught the ferry at 6am the next morning and headed to catch our flight back to Charlotte, NC. We once again almost missed our flight, after getting lost and Jen getting car sick, but we made it safely to Charlotte. Wilson was awesome on the plane, and we arrived just on time for the gig at RODI World in Gastonia. It was my first official show to open for them and it was awesome. The place has good food, good spirits, and friendly people.
